Hatland Care
We don't know exactly when it happened, but Hatland has become an indispensable accessory for thousands of people across Europe. It is the hat or cap that you take with you on adventures and during a walk or bike ride. Our hats are for lovers and with the right care the product can last a long time and remains beautiful for a long period of time. With proper maintenance, you can extend the life of your hat. We have listed a number of maintenance and cleaning tips for you.
Cleaning of dust and dirt
A straw hat can be removed with a damp cloth. For cleaning a felt hat, a soft brush can be used (a hard brush can make the felt rough and unsightly). Start on the left side of the hat and brush counterclockwise to the back of the hat, all the way around. This way you prevent the felt from becoming rough and ugly.
Rain
If your felt hat gets wet, turn the sweatband down and place the hat on it so that it dries in its natural shape. Do not place the wet hat on the edge of the hat, as a result of which the hat will lose its original shape. Note: Never use a hair dryer, radiator, lamp or car window to dry the hat; the combination of heat and perspiration can shrink the sweatband.
Water and oil stains
Water and or oil stains can be cleaned with a little talcum powder or cornstarch. Note: Never use liquid cleaners as this can damage the felt. If this does not work, take the hat to a professional dry cleaner. For example, sweat stains require professional care because they can settle deep in the felt.
Storage and handling
Turn the sweatband to legs once in a while if you are not wearing the hat. Then it can dry and air. Always keep the hat on a Hatcone or upside down on a flat surface to prevent the edge of the hat from flattening. You keep the hat in shape so well.
Calculate your main size
It is not always easy to find the right size, as sizes often vary from brand to brand and from country to country. In the Hatland Size Chart you will find the right size for Hatland articles.
Hats and caps
Place the tape measure just above your eyebrows and guide it around your head just above your ears — where your hat would normally sit. Hold the tape measure firmly but not too tightly. If you are between two sizes, we recommend choosing the larger of the two.
Gloves
Measure your hand at the widest point. Look in the table which size best suits your circumference. If you are between two sizes, round the centimeters upwards. When you try a leather glove, it should fit snugly. When used, the leather will become more supple and gloves will therefore sit a little more spaciously.
